Wednesday, Sept 10

    Highlights:

  • This morning in Health, we read The Magical Yet and talked about growth mindsets. We also did a fun activity to help us remember to never give up. Ask me what the activity was!

  • During P.E., we played Moustache Ball. Ask me how to play!
  • In Literacy, we started our class novel Third Grade Angles. Ask what happened in the first two chapters. 
  • For Math, we did an esti-mystery learned a new math game called friendly concentration. Ask me about the esti-mystery and to tell you about the game. 
  • During Reading, we learned how to play Kaboom, Pop, and Word Around. Ask me what ones I tried today. 
  • For Art, we started making "about me" sculptures with pipe cleaners. Ask me what I added so far!

Tuesday, Sept. 9

   Highlights:

  • This morning, we read The World Needs More Purple School for Health. We then talked about how we can make the school more "purple". Ask me what it means to be purple and what ideas we came up with . 
  • During Music, we watched a video about music words. Ask me to tell you about some of the things I learned. 
  • In Literacy, we learned about the 4 different types of sentences. Ask me to tell you  each one and give an example. 

  • For Math, we did our basic fact warm up before practicing the math games we have learned so far. We ended Math by practicing our skip counting skills. 
  • During Reading, we learned how to play the game Boggle before working on our reading stamina. Ask me how to play and what words I can make with the letters below!

Monday, Sept. 8

  Highlights:

  • This morning, we talked about the difference between rude, mean, and bullying behaviour. After, we sorted some different behaviours into the categories. Ask me to tell you the difference between the behaviours!

  • During P.E., we played the game Garbage Toss. Ask me how to play!
  • In Literacy, we learned that every sentence needs a subject and predicate to be complete! Ask me to give you an example of a complete sentence. 
  • For Math, we did a new warm up. Ask me how I would count these and what strategy I used. After the warm up, we learned two new math games called Garbage Can and Wipe Out. Ask me how to play!


  • During Reading, we practice our reading to self and reading to someone stations! Ask me what books I choose to read today!
  • In Science, we read the book What Will I Discover? and talked about the difference between a question and statement. Ask me what questions I am curious about!

Friday, Sept. 5

  Highlights:

  • This morning, we learned about positive affirmations! We read a book called My Magical Words and created affirmation art in our visual journals. Ask me what affirmations I chose!



  • During Field Study, we read The Sharing Circle and talked about the proper protocols. After, we did our own sharing circle to talk about our highlights from the first week of school. Ask me what I shared. 
  • We started Science by playing a game called Jump the River. When we came back inside, we designed different ways people could cross wide rivers. Ask me to tell you about the game and what we designed!

Thursday, Sept. 4

 Highlights:

  • This morning, we read the book My Mouth is a Volcano and talked about the importance of using kind words. Ask me about the activity!
  • We had our first day of Music! Ask me some of the important expectations I need to remember while in the music room. 
  • During Literacy, we learned about choosing "just right books" and worked on our reading stamina. Ask me to show you what it looks like when I am "reading to self" and "reading to someone". 
  • For Math, we learned a new math warm called Which One Doesn't Belong and practiced using our math hand symbols. After our warm up, we learned two new math games. Ask me to tell you about the math games!

  • This afternoon, we got to use some Maker Space materials. Ask me about the expectations and what materials I used!
  • We decorated name tags for our hooks!
  • During Word Work, we reviewed the short vowel sounds and some heart words. Ask me to read the words below!

Highlights:

  • This morning, we read the book What Does it Mean to be Kind? Ask me to tell you some ways I can show kindness. 
  • We had our first day of P.E. Ask me what activities we did today. 
  • During Literacy, we read the book A Letter from Your Teacher on the first day of school. We then wrote our own letters to Ms. Muma sharing different things about ourselves and asking questions. Ask me what I wrote about. 
  • For Math, we did a new skipping counting warm up with the hundreds chart and finished our numbers about me page. Ask me what numbers we skip counted by!


  • This afternoon in Health, we read a book called Our Class is a Family. We then did an activity with Jenga blocks and a journal page. Ask me what the activity was!

Highlights:
  • This morning, we started our day with a class meeting. We learned about Ms. Muma and did an activity to learn about our classmates. Ask me one thing I learned about my classmates. 
  • We read the story Happy School Year and talked about how we all felt on our first day of school. 
  • We reviewed our classroom and school expectations. Ask me to tell you about them.
  • During Literacy, we read the book How I Spent My Summer Vacation. We then wrote about some of our summer highlights in our new literacy books. Ask me what I wrote about today.
  • We Started our afternoon with mindfulness to help us reset and get back into our learning. 


  • We went on a school tour! Ask me to tell you what to do if I come to school late. 
  • This afternoon, we used our visual journal for the first time. We created a Math numbers about me page. Ask me what numbers I added.
