Highlights:
- This morning, we learned the difference between rude, mean, and bullying behaviour during Health. Ask me to tell you what each one means and an example for each behaviour.
- For Literacy, we read the book "When We Were Alone" and talked about how children may have felt in residential schools and how all children should feel at school. Ask me about the book.
- In Math, we learned about expanded form. Ask me to show you how to expand the numbers below! We also learned a new math game. Ask me to show you how to play.
- We talked about reading rotations this afternoon and learned about a new station. Ask me to tell you about it.
- This Afternoon, we took our school pictures!
- We started our Matter unit today in Science. Ask me to tell you the three states of matter and to show you with my hands.
Reminders:
- Tomorrow, our school is participating in Orange Shirt Day. Students are encouraged to wear orange.
- There is no school on Wednesday.
- As a part of our learning this year, we will be using technology. Students are welcome to bring wired headphones to use during these times. Please label with names.
September 30th is a National Day for Truth and Reconciliation meant to commemorate the history and legacy of Residential Schools in Canada. On Tuesday, September 29th, students are encouraged to wear an orange shirt or something else with orange to recognize Orange Shirt Day and the National Truth and Reconciliation Day.
Students will be engaging in learning throughout the week to honor this important day. Through read alouds and learning tasks, students will focus on understanding what they each need to feel safe and cared for at school and to consider this question: “What action can each member of our school community do to make sure every student feels safe and cared for at school, everyday?” This is an opportunity for Northern Lights students and staff to come together in the spirit of reconciliation to show their support of a safe, respectful and caring school community.
