Thursday, Feb. 26

   Highlights:

  • This morning, we talked about the different roles that people have in communities, families, at school, and in occupations. Ask me to give you some examples of roles!
  • In Music, we did Music sharing. Ask me if I shared!
  • For Literacy, we read the book I Wanna Iguana and wrote a persuasive letter to convince our parents to buy us our dream pet. Ask me what I wrote!
  • During Math, we practiced multiplying and dividing in parts. Ask me to explain the steps to you. 



  • For Art, we read a book called The Lights That Dance in the Night and then created art inspired by the northern lights. Ask me what media we used today!

Tuesday, Feb. 24

 Highlights:

  • This morning, we finished talking about the different stages of development and the responsibilities in each stage. We then created a visual journal page about some of the abilities and responsibilities that we have in the childhood stage. Ask me what abilities and responsibilities I included. 
  • Today we had some special grade 5 guests come into our room to do a presentation about Pink Shirt Day! 

  • In Math, we used the multiplication charts to help us solve multiplication and division questions. Ask me to show you how to use it to solve the questions below!



  • For Art, we drew a kindness picture and wrote one way that we can show kindness. Ask me what I added to to my drawing.

  • Tomorrow is Pink Shirt Day! Students are encouraged to wear the colour pink if they have it.

   Highlights:

  • This morning, we talked about how everything grows at different rates, including us. Ask me to tell you how I have grown, how I have stayed the same, and one way I want to grow. 
  • In P.E., we played two types of tag! Ask me to tell you about the two different kinds. 
  • During Literacy, we read a book called "Meet Willie O'Ree." Ask me to tell you about the book and what connection I made while reading. 

  • In Math, we practiced the repeated addition and subtraction strategy. Ask me to show you how to use it to solve the questions below. 

  • In Social Studies, we made a visual journal page about Ramadan. Ask me to tell you what I added. 




  • For Science, we talked about how wind, water, and ice can create different features (such as caves and valleys). Ask me how the features below were made!

  • Remember to dress for the weather! There is a chance it will be warm enough to be outside tomorrow!

Wednesday, Feb. 18

  Highlights:

  • This morning, we talked about the different ways we can grow! Ask me to tell you an example from each box below!
  • During Literacy, we learned about Ramadan! We read a story called Night of the Moon and had a few classmates share about the celebration. Ask me what I learned. 


  • This afternoon, we went on a Lunar New Year walk around the school to read riddles about the zodiac animals. Ask me to tell you about the activity. 

  • In Math, we started filling in our multiplication garden to practice our multiplication facts! Ask me to tell you my 1's, 2's, and 10's multiplication facts. We also started learning how the repeated addition strategy can help us solve multiplication questions. 

  • For Science, we learned how the earth can change gradually. We used Epic to research how wind and water change the Earth over time. Ask me to tell you what I learned!


  • We started learning our upper case cursive letters. Ask me what ones we learned today!


Reminders:
  • Tomorrow is Subway fun lunch and Mr. Pretzel treat day of those who have ordered. 
  • Remember to dress for the weather! There is a chance it will be warm enough to be outside tomorrow!

 Highlights:

  • This morning, we had a special guest come into our school! Ask me to tell you about her and the book that she wrote. 

  • During Literacy, we learned about the Lunar New Year and created a scale for our NLS dragon. Ask me to tell you what I learned about the Lunar New Year. 
  • For Science, we used Epic to research a natural event in more detail. Ask me to tell you about the one I chose!
  • In Math, we learned a new math game called Fact Feud! Ask me to tell you how to play or show you if we have cards!
  • This afternoon, we drew a fire horse to represent the Lunar New Year. Around it, we included facts that we learned about the celebration.

Highlights:

  • This morning, we decorated our valentine bags. Ask me what I put on it!

  • We did more Olympic games in P.E.
  • During Literacy, we read the book "Be Kind" and did a compliment activity with our class. Ask me to tell you about the activity!



  • We did our kindness message exchange. Ask me to show you my bag!
  • In Math, we practiced dividing using the array strategy. Ask me to show you how to use it for the questions below.
