Tuesday, March 17

  

Highlights:

• This morning, we made a natural resource page in our green journals! Ask me what a natural resource is and to give you some examples. 
• In Music, we did music madness and then used our puppets to sing some songs! Ask me what songs we sang. 
• We learned about Limerick poems today in Literacy. Ask me to tell you about the rules of a Limerick!

• During Math, we practiced solving word problems that have remainders. Ask me to show you how to solve the questions below. 

• For Social Studies, we talked about renewable vs. nonrenewable natural resources. Ask me what those two words mean and to give you some examples!

Tuesday, March 10

   Highlights:

• This morning, we learned a little bit about our knowledge keeper Chantal Changnon to help us prepare for our visit in the afternoon. 

• We played hockey games in P.E. Ask me to tell you about it. 
• For Literacy, we started writing our persuasive letter to Mrs. Brinson. We will be working on them again tomorrow. Ask me to tell you my ideas!
• During Math, we learned the different math stations we will be doing over the next few days. Ask me to tell you about the 6 stations.
• This afternoon, we visited with the knowledge keeper Chantal Changnon. She taught us about the different parts of the medicine wheel and about the hand drums that she makes. Ask me to tell you about my favourite part and something that I learned!

• For Thoughtful Tuesday, we started making thank you cards to a role model. Ask me how it is going!

Monday, March 9

  Highlights:

• This morning, we worked our family pages in our visual journals. Ask me what I did. 
• We started Music by doing our music madness and then used the Boomwhackers! Ask me what songs we did!

• For Literacy, we started creating a plan for a persuasive letter to Mrs. Brinson. Today we brainstormed some things that we could change about the school and chose one to write about. Ask me what one I chose and to tell you my ideas.
• During Math, we started making our own Esti-Mystery! Ask me what number we chose and what clues we came up with.

• We have a new word work station in our reading rotations. Ask me to tell you about it and why we are doing it.

Thursday, March 5

Highlights:

• This morning, we read our class novel. Ask me what happened in the chapters that we read!
• We practiced scoring on a net during P.E. Ask me if I did it!
• In Literacy, we learned about the prefix non- and used our new word work journal to do an activity. Ask me what the words below mean.

• During Math, we did an Esti-mystery warm up before finishing our multiplication garden. When we finished, we played division Tic Tac Toe. Ask me about the warm up and to show you how to play the game!

• In Science, we took a virtual tour to the Royal Tyrell Museum. Ask me what my favourite part was. 
• This afternoon, we coloured our elephant art from yesterday. Ask me to tell you about my art!

• This morning, we talked about how each new role adds to our skills tool box. We also, talked about role models! Ask me what a role model is. 
• We practiced our stick handling by playing a game! Ask me to tell you about the game. 

• In Literacy, we learned about a new graphic organizer called T.I.D.E. Ask me what each letter stands for and the topic we are going to write about tomorrow. 

• During Math, we started using our multiplication and division skills to solve word problems. Ask we how to solve the ones below!

• In Science, we started learning about dinosaurs in Alberta! Ask me what I learned today.

    Highlights:

• This morning, we talked about how roles can change over time. We then made a role responsibility flower in our visual journals! Ask me what roles I chose and the responsibilities that go with it.  

• We started practicing our hockey skills In P.E. Ask me what we did today. 
• For Literacy, we talked about our new word work station and learned about the prefix dis-. Ask me what words have the dis- prefix!

• During Math, we learned about division with remainders! Ask me what a remainder is and to show you how to solve the questions below!

• In Science, we discussed the different ways we can care for the Earth! We then made a responsibly poster highlighting some of the ways! Ask me what I added to my poster. 

Thursday, Feb. 26

   Highlights:

• This morning, we talked about the different roles that people have in communities, families, at school, and in occupations. Ask me to give you some examples of roles!

• In Music, we did Music sharing. Ask me if I shared!
• For Literacy, we read the book I Wanna Iguana and wrote a persuasive letter to convince our parents to buy us our dream pet. Ask me what I wrote!

• During Math, we practiced multiplying and dividing in parts. Ask me to explain the steps to you. 

• For Art, we read a book called The Lights That Dance in the Night and then created art inspired by the northern lights. Ask me what media we used today!
